“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground : and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.” Exodus 14:21-23,28-31
Each time I read this passage in the Bible, I never ceased to be amazed at how God took over the battle of the Israelites against the army of Pharaoh! The battle truly was the Lord’s, going by the Mighty arm of God that was revealed in the whole scenario.
I can imagine the Israelites with dropped jaws at the great act of God as He defended them before the Egyptians. That experience brought them to acclaim that the God of Abraham is a living God! He showed up for them in ways that could beat the imagination of anyone who is in a covenant relationship with Him.
If I may ask, where do you belong? Are you in a relationship with God? Have you come to God through the Lord Jesus Christ? (He is the only way to the Father!) Are you living in obedience to His will?
If you have and if you are, you can be rest assured that God’s got your back! Regardless of whatever situation you may be in, God is in the midst of the battle and your victory is certain; only hold on to him and do not lose your focus.
One of the things that touch me in this passage is the fact that the same red sea which eventually drowned the Egyptians was previously a passage way to the Israelites.
The same sea, but different results!
The same route but different outcomes!
The same direction but different destinations!
The waters became a wall on the right and on the left side creating a dry ground (not muddy/slippery ground) for the children of Israel to pass through. This could only have been by the Hands of God!
When God is on your side, victory is sure!
When God is against the forces that are trying to swallow you, your victory is sure!
When you are on the Lord’s side, you only need to stand still and see His salvation, because the battle belongs to Him!
The same water that became a passage way for the Israelites became the water that drowned the Egyptians the same day! Not a single one of them escaped the drowning in the water. The Israelites saw the salvation of the Lord! The Egyptians pursing them with fury had become dead bodies, floating on the water!
I tremble at the awesomeness of God! I am encouraged at the faithfulness of God towards His people down through the generations even to me and all those who have entered into a covenant relationship with Him. The same God that fought for the Israelites is the One fighting my ( & your) battles; He is the same One obtaining victory for me (& for you). God is great!!! He is the Mighty Warrior, Great in battle!
May you (& I) continue to see the Hands of God in our affairs. May we continue to experience victory as He takes over and fights the battles of our lives. May we continue to stay committed and faithful to Him who is ever Faithful! Amen!
