The Great Restorer!

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours…And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;” Genesis 37:3, 23

“Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen…” Genesis 41:42 (NIV)

When God steps into any situation, the storyline takes another beautiful dimension. God is ever committed to anyone who stays faithful to Him.

That was the situation of Joseph, who right from childhood, held on to the principles of God.
In his innocence as  a young man, he divulged his dreams to his brothers and he was hated for the content of the dreams. Who could have ever thought that sharing such information with intimate family members would spell disaster! Who could have imagined that members of his family were the enemies of his soul! They hated him for his dreams!!

Joseph could never have imagined death from the hands of his brothers! So he continued in his innocence and in obedience to his father, went to check on the welfare of his brothers and there, he was prepared for slaughter, which was eventually averted by divine intervention!!
The Divine stepped into his affairs at that critical moment and rather than kill him, his beautiful coat was removed and stained with the blood of an animal that was killed instead.
What a deliverance! What an intervention!! What a divine operation!!!

At every critical moment of your life and affairs, may you experience a divine intervention; a divine takeover. May the Lord arise to defend you. Amen!!

Joseph’s colourful coat was taken off! A coat he prided in; a honour his father placed on him. The least he expected was that his brothers would take it off him in such a cruel manner but alas, that was it! To Joseph, it was a nightmare! The coat was taken off!!

In Portphar’s house, Joseph yet experienced another coat taken-off by Mrs. Portipher because he refused to commit the sin offered to him. Note that his coat was taken off not because he committed a sin but rather, because he refused to sin against God.

Atimes, challenges come, not necessarily because we have sinned against God but because we choose to take our stand for Him in righteousness.

It pays to stand for God rather than bow to the pressure of sin all because you want to retain your “coat”. Joseph left his own coat in the hands of the woman who would have swallowed his future, and he fled!!
He found himself in prison but it was far better than being in bed with Mrs. Potipher!

In whatever situation and in all situations, please take your stand for God and for righteousness!

However, to God, the best was still ahead for Joseph! Thank God, he took his stand for God. Joseph stood in righteousness not because he knew he would be on the throne of Egypt but rather because he had reverence for God. His motivation for living right was not because of any human promise or coveted position but simply because he loved and had reverence for God!

Live to please God, not because of any earthly gain or position but because it is required of you as a bona-fide son/daughter of the Kingdom. The salvation experience is a call into holy living; a call to separate ourselves unto God!

When Joseph had gone through the various stages of testing, God replaced his coat in the most honourable way in his days! Joseph ascended to the throne in Egypt and had the whole Earth under his dictate at that time. All countries came to Egypt to buy grain and Joseph was the one in charge.(vs 57)

Wow! God replaced Joseph’s coat in a grand style! Joseph got to this point of honour because he stood in righteousness for God! The previous coats he had lost could not be compared with this fine linen God was placing on him.

Is there something of you that has been unjustly taken away, hold on to God in righteousness! Is there something valuable to you, that the enemy has taken away? Dont lose hope but rather remain faithful to God; continue steadfastly in the faith and remain diligent at your duty post.

God does not forget His own people, especially when we remain faithful to Him. He rewards us accordingly!
He will bring upon you, a robe of honour in place of the coat that has been taken off. He will bring promotion that is beyond your imagination and any human comprehension. He will surely restore because He is The Restorer!

May you & I remain faithful unto Him through every stage/process of life. May whatever rightly belongs to us  but has been unjustly taken from us in the past, be restored in more glorious ways by Mighty God of Israel. Amen!
