Joshua 6-22
Many battles were fought before the children of Israel could finally settle on the territories allotted to them. God did not want any compromise so many nations had to be uprooted and dislodged before the children of Isarel took possession. They were not to share their inheritance but to fight for them. Those that could not fight alone received support to fight in order to lay claim to their territories.
Each time I read the book of Joshua, I am reminded that there are promises that God has made about and given to us. There’s an inheritance that we have in Christ Jesus. They belong to us. But I discover we are not to go to sleep just like that. We have work to do to lay hold on these promises.
We must daily do the the mouth work….confessing the promises and aclaiming them; we must do the knee work….in the place of prayer; we must do the resistance work…to resist and push the enemy out of our inheritance. We must fight the fight of faith, believing in the finished work of Christ who has made us enter into His rest. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We must take the battle to the gates of the enemy as we are fully clothed in Gods armour.
It is God’s desire that we claim to, lay hold on and occupy those things that are freely given to us in Christ Jesus but there are battles to fight.
So the Lord gave to Israel all the land that He had solemnly promised their ancestors he would give them. When they had taken possession of it, they settled down there. The Lord gave them peace…not one of their enemies had been able to stand against them because the Lord gave the Israelites victory….” Joshua 21:43-44(TLB)
The Lord gave them, but they had to take possession of what God gave! They had victory because they fought!
Victories only come after conquest.
Move forward to lay hold on your health, your home, your peace, your marriage, your family, your portions in life and your inheritance in Christ.
Take possession!
The Lord has given you victory!
