“How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” Psalm 36:7
Each time I see the wings of an aircraft during a flight, I am always amazed at the size; especially in those very big planes! I am a fan of an aisle seat (because it affords me the opportunity to get up without disturbing anyone), but when I don’t remember to choose my seat (or don’t have the opportunity to do so) and have to be assigned to a window seat, I equally enjoy it because there are sights to behold!
As I watched through the window from time to time during one of my past trips, enjoying the sights of the vegetations, seas/oceans, clouds and sometimes the cities, I could not help but look at the wings of the huge aircraft from time to time and meditations of the scriptures about the WINGS of God kept flashing through my heart! Then, I took my pen…!
The Wings of God are awesome and the blessings of camping under it cannot be exhausted. Various people in the Bible described it and I have and am still experiencing it!
“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.” Psalm 57:1
The Psalmist even affirmed that under the shadow of God’s Wings is a place of refuge: away from the calamities of life! What an assurance; that when we come under the Wings, we are kept by the power of God. No wonder then, that the enemy tries to shift our attention from God most times especially in our times of distress; he wants to make us look at the problems; running around for help rather than look to God and come under the Shadow of His Wings.
Beloved, I encourage you to bring yourself perpetually under the Shadow of His Wings; it is the safest place on Earth and the enemy cannot get there because it is a NO TRESSPASS Zone!
It is a place of trust (Psalm 61:4, 91:4); a place of rejoicing (Psalm 63:7)
Trust in the Shadow of His Wings; it is a place of rest and refuge!
The Wings of God carries us, like the Eagles carry his eaglets:
“As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him…” Deuteronomy 32:11-12
I rejoice at the awesomeness of God! He is Great! I cannot completely fathom the size of His Wings but I know the power of His wings; just the Wings!
They can accommodate as many as come and as many issues of life that we bring together with us under His Wings; they shield us from all arrows and fiery darts! Let thousands of the host of Hell let loose, they cannot come near us as long as we are hidden under the Shadow of His Wings! They lose their power when they see us underneath the wings Halleluyah!
May you and I continually abide under the Shadow of His Wings; finding refuge from and obtaining victory against every storm and tempest of life. May we never have to stray away from underneath the Shadow of the Wings of the Almighty. Amen!
