“But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.” Luke 4:25-26 (KJV)
Statistics reveal to us that there are about 7.8 billion people on Earth! What a huge population of humans. Yet, the Bible tells us that God knows every single person on Earth by name; that even those who are called by the name of the Lord are all even engraved upon the palms of His Hands. God knows you as a person; He knows your needs, fears, troubles, challenges, joy etc. Please, be rest assured that God knows and cares about you despite the number of people on earth and regardless of what you are going through.
As I journeyed through the Gospel of Luke few weeks back, I was particularly drawn to this scripture. I was touched by the fact that though many widows were in the land of Israel in the days of Elijah, it was only to one of them that divine help was sent. The widow of Zarephat didn’t receive this attention because of something spectacular she had done before the arrival of Elijah. It was a time of famine and everybody needed help but to this woman alone was Elijah sent. This was grace in operation; a divine assistance in full force!
In times like these, especially as we begin a journey into another new year, we all need the help that comes from above. We all need the visitation of God in our affairs and in our land. We need things to change for us positively; we need progress and promotion; we need to advance; we need open doors and provisions; we need the lifting that we have long desired of God; we need the touch of God in various ways; we need divine assistance!
It is my prayer, that as the woman was noticed for assistance, so will Heaven remember you and me. Despite the multitude of people on Earth, may Heaven notice you (& me) for divine assistance. May obstructions give way for the favour and the help of God to reach me (& you ). May you (& I) be singled out for divine assistance in this season and beyond. May we experience the help of God afresh in ways that beat the understanding of Man. Amen!
Happy New Year 2022
