“After the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint the body of Jesus. Very early on Sunday morning, at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” (It was a very large stone.) Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back. (Mark 16:1-3 GNV)
The fact that a big stone was at the entrance of the tomb did not deter the 3 women from proceeding to go on with the assignment of anointing the body of Jesus; they kept going forward, knowing fully well that of their own accord, they couldn’t roll the stone away. They had shortcomings that could have limited them but they refused to focus on the negative. By nature, as women, they knew they couldn’t roll the stone; their strength would not have permitted them; yet, they kept moving! This is what touched me so much about them. They knew there was a stone there but didn’t stay back. They got up and kept going; they kept moving! They advanced by faith; looking not on the things that were seen but the things unseen. They did not allow gender factors stop them. As women, they didn’t have the strength to roll the stone away from the tomb, yet they kept moving! They kept moving towards the fulfilment of prophecy. They kept moving towards purpose. They kept moving towards Jesus, rather than away from Him.
Nobody appointed them to go perform that duty but out of honor for Jesus and His body that laid in the grave, they set out to anoint His body. However, God had gone ahead of them and an angel had rolled the stone away. If they had sat back mourning, they would have missed the experience but they got up by faith and kept moving. Till the end of age, their story is being read because it is documented in the Bible that they did this. If they had stayed back for gender reasons, their story would not have been recorded; possibly, someone else would have done it but their yielding to do this, became their story for life.
What I learn from this story includes the following: Don’t feed your shortcomings. Don’t pamper your limitations. Don’t support your limiting human tendencies. Don’t let the flesh (and its cravings/desires) limit you. Don’t self-pity yourself (gender factors). Don’t give yourself excuses why the flesh should stop you (whether as a man or as a woman). Rather, keep moving; do not stop yourself; don’t let the world stop you; don’t let Satan stop you; don’t let your flesh stop you! Keep moving towards Jesus; towards the fulfilment of destiny and prophecy.

Ours is to take steps of faith; it’s God’s to put things in place for us to be fulfilled. As the women looked ahead, they saw the stone had been rolled away. Thank God they moved. God had settled what their concerns were. He will settle everything that gives you concerns, only keep moving in the direction of Jesus.

Beloved, is there an assignment before you that is supposed to contribute to the fulfilment of God’s purpose on Earth, keep moving towards it. Do not focus on the limitations or unfriendly circumstances and situations, but keep moving on in life; keep moving towards Jesus and not the flesh. God will roll the obstacles away; everything standing on our ways of fulfilling purpose will be handled by God. Amen

May the Lord increase my faith to keep moving and not miss the experiences in Jesus name.
