The OFFER of GOD
“…..I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses: therefore choose life, so that you and your children may live” Deuteronomy 30:19
I love the Word of God so much. However, there are so many scriptures in the Bible that I confess and declare regularly. This is one of them.
There are so many offers coming our ways in this life and in view of this, there are a lot of choices placed before us to make.
Offers remain as offers! They are not forced on us. We choose to accept or reject them. Offers have their consequences either we accept or reject them.
There are offers that the World and Satan himself place before us and the point still remains that they are not forced on us children of the Kingdom because of our heritage in Christ. God also places before us His offers.
We may however lose out on the benefit of the offers of God if we are ignorant and do not lay claim to our inheritance in Christ. We also lose out when we refuse God’s offer of salvation through Christ Jesus. (You may consider accepting this if you have not)
What we become or do not is mostly as a result of our choices in life. When a person refuses God’s offer of salvation through Christ, he/she becomes vulnerable to the offer of Satan.
Many times what we eat affect our health (positively or negatively). It therefore means it is necessary for us to choose and eat what will affect our health positively. Likewise, this applies to anything we consume, harbor, allow, desire and go after. The same goes with the companies we keep and the places we go.
There are many offers the society place before us. We will do well to choose positive ones that can contribute to our wellbeing in life.
God places His offers before us through His Word. His promises are His offers to us and there are three dispositions to these offers of God:
- Indifference
- Acceptance
- Rejection
According to our text, God’s desire for us as believers is that we accept His offer. Though there are various options placed before us, He instructs, counsels and pleads with us to “Choose life”. He does not force! It is your choice!
In this world, there are offers of life and death; blessings and curses but God says “choose life”. Humanity itself is wrapped up in these options of blessing, curse, life and death. As believers, God does not want us to reject His offer nor be indifferent to it. He wants us to actively accept it and He directs us that way: “choose life that you may live…”.
Consciously confess and declare the promises of God even as you accept them.
Each new year has various things to offer various people but the offer of God for us in this new year and decade is “LIFE” God wants us to have life and live (choose life that you may live, you and your household). This is not limited to living your chronological age but being alive in all areas of life… health wise, spiritual, ministerial, financial, marital, academically, business, professional and a lot more.
There is need to consciously accept God’s offer to choose life. One of the characteristics of living thing is growth! Life brings growth! Growth brings progress!
When you choose life, you choose growth!
Make this your regular confession and declaration in the year 2020 and beyond. My sincere prayer for you in 2020 also is that you receive LIFE afresh!
