“Look, he is coming on the clouds! Everyone will see him, including those who pierced him. All peoples on earth will mourn over him. So shall it be!” Revelation 1:7
With the advent of modern technology, access to the gospel and to messages has increased significantly. Sermons are preached across various platforms today, in physical gatherings and especially also across the social media platforms. This is a generation that has no excuse when it comes to hearing the word of God; even though some people on earth are yet without the reach of the gospel which should also be a matter of concern to the Church as we strategize to take the gospel to them.
Meanwhile, the Church has access to the word of God day and night. Various topics and issues of the Christian faith are regularly dished out and we thank God for the ministry of the Word!
However, it seems the subject of the coming of Jesus is scantily preached today, unlike few decades ago. We tend to not hear much on the subject of His coming, like we do all others; whereas, this is equally a very important subject. I wonder how many young believers of this generation have really heard a sermon about the 2nd coming of Jesus, in meaningful ways that help them get and stay prepared. There is a need for us to reawaken ourselves to this important message; and remind ourselves that JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
Over four decades ago when I met the Lord, the coming of Jesus was a song in the mouths of believers. Atimes, singing those songs gave us the reality into a glimpse of His coming. We sang expectantly!
Beloved, do not get so carried away by the affairs of life and living. As believers and even ministers of the gospel, we must not get so carried away by doing ministry for the Lord, that we forget that He is coming again! I believe that when this matter is at the front burners of our lives and ministries, certain carnal behaviors and attitudes will have no place. We will live for and serve God with reverence and fear with an awareness and a readiness for His coming.
“Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.” Luke 12:37
Beloved, we must live in readiness and preparedness for His coming! While we go about life and ministry, we must look up with expectation, to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ; for He will surely come again! Jesus calls our attention to be ready, likening His coming to the floods that came in the time of Noah. Everyone was so carried away by their own affairs that they neglected the warning; until the floods came suddenly! So, shall the coming of Jesus be!
And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.1 John 2:28
We must resist everything that may want to draw us away from this reality that Christ is coming again for those who patiently wait for Him. If peradventure, you have been drawn away by the cares of this world; by the challenges of life or by the flesh and all it’s lust, please, retrace your steps to the Lord.
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.” Revelation 22:7
May the Spirit of the Lord reawaken His Church to this reality. May we be strengthened to live in readiness for His coming. May the grace and mercy of God keep us standing and faithful till He comes! Amen!
Maranatha!
Come, Lord Jesus!
