Promotion Comes!

I’m yet to meet someone who does not like to be promoted in life!

Promotion simply means advancement. It is a lifting! It is a shift from a position to another position but in this case, a better one. Promotion to different people could be different things but looking at it well, it is an advancement!

Joseph was a slave in Potiphar’s house but he became the chief servant. He had privileges and opportunities the other servants didn’t have. All that Potiphar had were put in his care. Joseph who was an ‘ordinary commodity’ in the slave market, bought over by Potiphar is now a chief servant! The last is yet to be heard of his promotion.

Looking closely at Joseph in this new stage, his integrity was put to test. His promotion came along with an exam which was going to determine the next phase of his life. Potiphar’s wife noticed him and began to make advances. This was a great test of the integrity of Joseph who had a testimony of being successful in his work because God was with him.

Potiphar’s house was not the final promotion point Joseph was to attain but failure at this point means a forfeiture of the higher platform.

In life, we all experience one form of promotion or the other. Even if it is not glaring to all, there is an advancement that everyone enjoys at one point or the other in life.

However, at every new level, there is a devil!

Joseph experienced the first devil (temptation) as a servant (not even as a Prime Minister). He never imagined a throne was waiting for him. His decision to refuse the offer of Potiphar’s wife was not because he saw the throne. It was primarily because he feared God.

Our ability to overcome temptations and resist the devil depends on the place God occupies in our lives.

Where the things of this World or the pleasures of life takes the place of God, an individual is likely to succumb to the offers of the devil.

Joseph understood that accepting the offer from Mrs Potiphar was going to be a dissapointment to heaven. He lived in Egypt but was conscious of his heavenly identity.

Promotions will certainly come! These may expose you to some offers from the devil. Will you like Joseph refuse it no matter the cost? The rejection cost Joseph his temporary position but God who had a higher platform for him took note of his commitment. At an appointed time, He promoted him again.

Whatever level you are now, do not fumble. There’s a higher level of promotion but you must not fail heaven at your present duty post.

Promotion comes!!!

May it find you faithful!!
